Q&A With Capisce General Manager Michael Berry

With so many dining options available at WinStar World Casino and Resort, it can be tough to choose what to eat around here. From fine dining and fast food to sweet or savory, we have you – and your stomach – covered. We spoke with Capisce Ristorante Italiano General Manager Michael Berry to find out what makes this culinary delight so unique.

Where did your interest in the restaurant industry start?

MB: I’ve been in the restaurant industry for about 15 years and it’s always felt like home. I’ve always enjoyed the interaction with the guests and have loved grooming the staff to be the best that they can be.

How long have you worked at Capisce? 

MB: I’ve been with Capisce for almost three months, although I have worked within WinStar for about four years. This is a totally different experience and I’m blessed to be a part of it.

Tell us a bit about Capisce. What’s the most appealing thing about the restaurant? The menu? The atmosphere? 

MB: Capisce has a totally different atmosphere than you’ll find throughout the casino, it is a relaxing venue where you can escape the floor and have a great dinner with a nice bottle of wine. 

There are so many dining options at WinStar. What makes Capisce unique? 

MB: If you’re looking for a five-star meal with a relaxing atmosphere, or just looking to have a bottle of wine next to the fireplace, Capisce is the place to be.

What is your favorite dish and why? 

MB: My favorite meal at Capisce would have to be the rib-eye steak. It’s truly an amazing meal and it would be hard for anyone to rival our steaks.

Which menu item is the guest favorite? 

MB: The lasagna is probably the meal I get the most compliments on.  It comes out looking great each time and even though the portion is large it, is rare that the plate is not left empty.

If a guest is sitting down for their first meal at Capisce, what should they order? 

MB: I would recommend the calamari for an appetizer followed by the lobster bisque and the rib-eye steak for the entrée. After that I would top it all off with a slice of carrot cake made right here at Le Paris Bakery and Café.

Since spring is here, what’s the best spring menu item at Capisce? 

MB: I’d have to say our seafood specials are the best spring item. While it will change week to week, our chefs take great pride in putting out the best possible dish all the way from presentation to finding the perfect blend of vegetables to match the seafood. We have seafood flown in from Hawaii, which gives us the ability to serve the best quality food.

If you aren’t eating at Capisce, what’s your other favorite WinStar restaurant?

MB: I would have to say NYC Burgers and Dogs. Who doesn’t love a great burger or hot dog?
