It’s the beginning of 2018, which means it’s also the start of a new Lunar New Year! 2018 is the Year of the Earth Dog, an animal which symbolizes luck. WinStar World Casino and Resort will be filled with beautiful red and gold decorations, colors that symbolize happiness, prosperity and good luck.
There are so many reasons to celebrate the New Year at WinStar, so we are sharing the top five things you should know about some of our favorite Lunar New Year traditions as we kick off our celebrations on Feb. 11.
1. “The Natural” $150,000 Invitational Baccarat Tournament
From 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday between Jan. 23 and Feb. 8, we will draw Hot Seats at open baccarat tables. Hot Seat winners will advance to one of three qualifying round tournaments for a chance to compete in the main event on Feb. 18, where the first prize winner will walk away with $50,000!
2. Enjoy Mậu Tuất, a Free Vietnamese Variety Concert
On Sunday, Feb. 18., the Vietnamese Variety Concert will celebrate Nguyễn Cao Kỳ Duyên’s 30th anniversary. Tickets are free and are available at the Rome Box Office, via your host or at any open table games pit while supplies last. Tickets will go quickly, so make sure to plan ahead for your chance to see this amazing performance.
3. Daily Character Performers
Talented character performers will parade through the Rome Gaming Plaza in vibrant, authentic costumes each day. On Feb 18, a character drummer will lead the amazing lion dancers as they breathe fire and dance their way to the Global Event Center for the Mậu Tuất show, so get your free concert tickets early. Don’t miss your chance to see these enchanting performances!
