Over the last 15 years, we’ve been so fortunate to host some of the world’s top entertainers inside the Global Event Center. Names like Blake Shelton, Paul Simon, Harry Connick Jr. and Weezer have graced the stage at WinStar, and for the ninth time in our short history, we’ve been nominated for Casino of the Year – Large Capacity at the 54th Academy of Country Music Awards.
Sitting at the heart of WinStar’s gaming floor, the Global Event Center is our state-of-the-art, 3,500-seat concert venue that has hosted the biggest names in every genre of music and live entertainment. From James Taylor to Jerry Seinfeld and Brad Paisley to Sting, you can find the hottest acts on the planet, not in a 19,000-seat arena or an 80,000-seat stadium, but in the intimate confines of the Global Event Center that concertgoers have come to love.
Previous nominations came in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
“We are honored to be nominated by the Academy of Country Music for Casino of the Year for the ninth time,” said general manager Jack Parkinson. “To be designated in the same class as some of the world’s finest casino venues speaks volumes about the dedication to support entertainment by both our team members and guests.”
The Academy of Country Music is dedicated to “improving lives by connecting fans, artists and the industry” of country music. The Academy was established in 1964 to support country music artists like Merle Haggard, Buck Owens and Tex Williams. The first official country music awards show was held in 1966 and, for the last 50-plus years, has honored country music’s biggest stars. This year’s show, the 54th Academy of Country Music Awards was no different, featuring performances from current greats including Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood and Country legends like George Strait.
