The Red Dirt Series

Happy Monday, friends! I am so excited to be writing to you again! We’re going into the third week of the New Year, and I couldn’t be doing worse with my New Year’s resolutions. Those things get harder to keep each year! I hope you all are having better luck than I am or we could be in trouble.
Now let’s get down to business. This week, I am beyond delighted to be writing about The Red Dirt Series! I am a Texas girl born and raised, so I bleed country music. Yes, coming from a Texan that may be stereotypical, but I do have my reasons. Country music digs deep into your soul. It’s powerful, inspiring and brings out emotions we didn’t know existed. At the same time, it is energetic, easy-going and playful. It’s all over the spectrum, which makes it just plain awesome. If you aren’t convinced by now that country music is hands-down the greatest genre, then let these boys below do the talking for me:

Casey Donahew Band will be kicking off the series on Thursday, January 23. This Texas-grown band has come a long way since playing in local bars. They hit it big in 2009 when one of their self-released albums was on the Top 30 albums in Billboard magazine.

Randy Rogers Band is up next, performing on Thursday, January 30. They, too, are from my home state of Texas. They have seven singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs!

Josh Abbott Band will be performing third on Thursday, February 6. I‘m beginning to sense a theme here- this band is from Texas, too! They’ve sold out Ft. Worth’s, Billy Bob’s, which is 6,000 tickets!

Stoney LaRue will be performing on Thursday, February 13, (I’m sensing a Valentine’s Day date idea). His album, The Red Dirt Album, reached the Billboard sales chart in its debut week. Not too bad, huh?

Pat Green is last, but certainly not least. He’ll be ending The Red Dirt Series by performing on Thursday, February 20. This Texas boy has had fifteen of his singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs.

Tickets for all concerts are: General $15/Premium $20/VIP $30. The shows will be held in the Global Event Center and all shows will begin at 9 p.m., with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. You can purchase tickets at www.ticketmaster.com or call (800) 745-3000.

But, wait, we have more! Mist will also be hosting the bands below:

Mike and the Moonpies- January 23, 10 p.m.

Shane Smith and the Saints- January 30, 10 p.m.

Folk Family Revival- February 6, 10 p.m.

Six Market Blvd.- February 13, 10 p.m.

The Crooks- February 20, 10 p.m.

We have so many talented performers coming our way, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Thursday nights here at WinStar are going to be mind-blowing, at least until February 20th!

That’s it for now, folks! Thank you for reading, skimming, sharing or whatever else you did with this blog. Stay tuned until next week when I will be discussing Chinese New Year, The Year of the Horse!
