On Tuesday, Oct. 25, 275 WinStar employees and their families gave blood during our fall blood drive. A few times a year the Oklahoma Blood Institute brings their team to WinStar to facilitate opportunities to donate blood. Providing ways for our employees to give back to the community is important to us, and giving blood is a perfect opportunity to do that. We gave enough blood to help up to 957 people. That is truly amazing!
The OBI partners with 2,500 businesses, schools and organizations annually to conduct more than 4,000 blood drives across the state, including the four we held this year. Through these blood drives and individual donations at their donor centers across the state, the OBI is able to provide blood for more than 140,000 patients in more than 161 medical facilities in Oklahoma.
Our goal was to have 835 donations in 2016, and we have already surpassed that number with 958 total donations in 2016. We nearly doubled the number of donations we had last year! The best part of giving blood is knowing that we’ve made a lifesaving difference for so many people in need.
WinStar is the largest blood donor in the state of Oklahoma, and it is all because of our amazing employees! Our team embodies selflessness and continually gives to support Oklahomans. To thank each of the donors at the blood drive, participants received an OBI Bedlam Series t-shirt – in their choice of crimson or orange, of course – and a Gran Via Buffet voucher. We also gave each donor a chance to win one out of 21 pairs of tickets to Bellator MMA.
